Man convicted of first degree murder in 2012 shooting death

After a week-long trial, a jury has found a man guilty of first degree murder.

35-year-old Jason William Custer was convicted on Friday in the 2012 murder of Adam E. McCormick, 36 of Sidney.

A jury found Custer guilty of First Degree Murder (Class IA felony), Use of a Firearm to Commit a Felony (Class IC felony) and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon (Class ID felony) in Cheyenne County District Court.

He faces a mandatory life sentence for the murder conviction.  Sentencing is scheduled for March 18, 2014 at 9:00 a.m.

Assistant Attorneys General Michael Guinan and Matt Lierman are handling the case with the assistance of Cheyenne County Attorney Paul Schaub.
