Adrian Smith files for re-election to represent Nebraska's 3rd Congressional District

Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) officially files for reelection to represent Nebraska's Third District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Smith, a lifelong resident of Gering, has been a leader in Congress fighting to reduce the size and scope of the federal government, and has been a key advocate for agriculture policy and issues facing rural Nebraska.

"Nebraska's Third District wants a strong conservative in Washington," said Smith.  "Along with Nebraskans, I will continue to fight for commonsense solutions to get government out of the way of economic growth, and to stop the federal government from harassing farmers, ranchers, and entrepreneurs.

"We have made progress in changing the conversation in Washington from how much to spend, to how much to cut.  We have helped thousands of Third District residents break through the red tape and bureaucracy of the federal government.  Clearly, with $17 trillion in debt, Obamacare, and new regulations affecting every industry and aspect of our lives - there is much more work to be done.

"Third District residents know what is at stake in this election.  I invite Nebraskans from South Sioux City and Falls City in the east to Harrison and Benkelman in the west to join us as we continue to fight back, and put America on a stronger path."

Smith has represented the Third Congressional District since 2007. Col. Tom Brewer of Gordon has also filed for this seat, and has been campaigning across the state for the past several weeks.
