SB Council votes to move yard waste bin pick-up to front curb

Posted: Updated:

Scottsbluff residents who bring their yard waste bins to the alley will soon be moving them to the front curb for pick–up.

The goal is to create a more–efficient pick–up system for Scottsbluff's Public Works Department.

Right now close to 4,000 residents already bring their yard waste bins to the curb for pick–up.  So the change will affect roughly 2,000 residents.

That means soon city residents will bring all three waste bins to the front curb for pick–up.  this includes trash bins, recycling containers and yard waste bins.

"This is just another iteration or another way of migrating from the old way of doing things in tin dumpsters in alleys to a more modern, efficient, safer way of collecting the garbage bins," says City manager Rick Kuckkahn.

The changes will not take place immediately.  Kuckkahn says residents will be individually notified when they need to start moving their yard waste bin to the front–curb for pick-up.
