McLeay: I want to restore the law and constitution that protects freedom

Posted: Updated:

Bart McLeay makes his campaign message clear.

"I'm running for U.S. Senate because I want to be the voice for freedom and I want to restore the law and constitution that protects our freedom." Said McLeay.

During last week's first GOP Senate debate in Gering, the Omaha business attorney addressed many topics, from immigration reform to reducing taxes.

"My plan is simple," said McLeay looking into the audience. "I want a simple code, I want to reduce taxes, and I pledge I will not increase taxes and I want something that will keep money in your pocket and not in the government."

The Nebraska native says he plans on working with other senators on a number of issues, including to stop federal funding of abortion.

"I want to support the pro-life movement. I think abortion is wrong, I think it's even worse that our federal government is involved in the process."

During his career, McLeay has fought for Nebraska's ranchers by protecting their property rights from the federal government.

He says he will continue to make that a priority during his campaign and listening to the concerns of residents.

Bart McLeay is one of five GOP candidates looking to fill the seat of Mike Johanns.

The candidates will have two more debates before voters go to the polls for the primary election in May.
