Midland University President looks to make jump to U.S. Senate

Posted: Updated:

Ben Sasse prides himself on being a father-figure not only to his family, but to the students at Midland University.
"I'm a college president and I talk to college students all the time and they don't understand what the conservative movement is about," explains Sasse. "We have to teach them that we're about constitutional systems of great opportunity for everybody."
Sasse says he campaigns for the future generation and wants to see the students excel.

During last week's senate debate, he talked about repealing Obamacare and how it hurts more than helps the nation.

The former Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services under former President George W. Bush says the bill must be stopped.  "You can't fix Obamacare...We need to fully repeal it and replace it with something that puts patients and doctors first."
Sasse says he wants to be the voice for Nebraskans on having a government with a limited number of authorities.  "American system of government is the greatest system of government the world is ever known... We believe that freedom is always with the people and we give the government a limited number of authorities."
Sasse says America has the greatest system of government and that the future of Nebraska lies within the next generation.
