Cheyenne County Young Professionals group linking up people in the southern panhandle

Posted: Updated:
There is a new group forming in the southern panhandle for young people to get together and network.
The Cheyenne County Young Professionals held their first official kick-off meeting in Sidney earlier this year.

The group is designed to link-up young people in the community through networking, socialization, volunteering, and community involvement.

Paul Brogren, a co-founder of CCYP, says another part of the group is to communicate what community events and volunteering opportunities are going on in the area.

"Sidney is a very unique place in the sense that we do have Cabela's here that brings in a lot of individuals that aren't originally from here and don't know what's going on, so this gives them the opportunity to find those things out such as community events and volunteering opportunities."

Brogren founded the group with fellow Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce Board of Director's member Chris Tollock.
"We got together, decided this was something that the community needed, and we sat down, started penciling things out. And we thought if we could get 40 people to show up, that's going to be a successful event for us. But come to find out, there's a lot of interest in it."

More than 130 people showed up for the CCYP's kick-off event in January.
The Cheyenne County Young Professionals will hold its next meeting Tuesday, February 11 at the Sidney Holiday Inn.

The guest speaker for that meeting will be Cabela's CFO Ralph Castner.
