$2,800 raised for music education through JMM auction

Posted: Updated:

Not only was a sell-out crowd treated to a great night of country music, but a generous bid for an autographed guitar will help fund music education for students.

John Michael Montgomery kicked off his two night Scottsbluff run last night at the Midwest Theater.

Towards the end of the show, the country star announced that he will be signing a new Cort guitar donated by Steve Thrasher of Thrasher music. To up the ante, auctioneers Helberg & Nuss then started the crowd in a bidding award for the signed piece of memorabilia.

After a heated round of bids, local attorney Stacy Petitt won the guitar with a generous bid of $2,800.

The money will be used to continue to fund student performing arts education programming.

A second guitar will be auctioned off at Friday night's concert, and that money will also go to the student funding.
