Gubernatorial candidate visits Scottsbluff

Posted: Updated:

Nebraska governor candidate Pete Ricketts returned to the panhandle this weekend continuing his campaign before heading back east to Omaha.

The gubernatorial candidate stopped at the Legacy of the Plains in Gering this afternoon to talk with residents and friends. He was accompanied by his family.

In November, Ricketts visited the panhandle. Since then he has taken charge in forming an Ag Advisory Committee to look at issues concerning agricultural.

He says the committee is made up of ag leaders stretching from Alliance to Syracuse.

Ricketts says that the campaign is going well and that he's noticed agricultural is one issue concerning residents the most.
"The campaign is going great. We've been to 67 counties, put over 19,000 miles on the car, driving around the state. Talking to folks about their hopes and dreams, what they want to see out of the next governor. I've gotten a tremendous reception as I've crossed the state." Said Ricketts.

He says he agrees with several policies that Governor Dave Heineman has put out during his terms and that the next governor should also continue the push on tax reform to help Nebraskans.
