Autopsy conducted; Corrections Officer died from asphyxia by manual strangulation

Posted: Updated:

An autopsy conducted on the Corrections Officer revealed that the cause of death was asphyxia by manual strangulation.

24-year-old Amanda Baker passed away Sunday afternoon at Regional West Medical Center following an alleged attack by 15-year-old Dylan Cardeilhac.

Dr. Pete Schilke performed the autopsy this morning at the hospital and determined the cause of death to be asphyxia by manual strangulation.

County Attorney Doug Warner says that Dylan Cardeilhac will be charged with first degree murder on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. It is not known at this time when he will appear in County Court to be arraigned.

A press release from Warner says that the incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Friday at the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center. An investigation has led authorities lead to believe that Cardeilhac strangled Baker, causing the fatal injuries.
