Regional West Medical Center's Cancer Services Program receives accreditation and commendation

Regional West Medical Center has earned a national three-year re-accreditation with commendation for its Cancer Services Program.

The nod comes from the 'American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.'

Regional West has been accredited with the commission since 1985.

To receive the accreditation, Regional West's Cancer Program is put through a rigorous survey that evaluates every department of cancer care.

Not only did the program receive accreditation, but the Cancer Services Program also med additional criteria to earn a commendation from the Commission.

Regional West Medical Center's Director of Cancer Services, Jeff Kriewald, says its a great benefit to the community to receive such high praise.

"There are roughly 400 to 450 newly diagnosed cancer patients in the region each year. Not all those are treated here, but a majority of them are in one facet or another through our department." 
Regional West offers a vide variety of comprehensive cancer treatment ranging from surgery to medical oncology, radiation oncology, radiology, pathology, dietary social work and hospice care.
