Scottsbluff Police getting new guns and ammo

Posted: Updated:

Scottsbluff Police are getting some new equipment to help keep the city safe.
The department will get 19-news guns, ammunition for training and duty, and new gun locks for unmarked police vehicles.

Scottsbluff Police Chief Kevin Spencer says the new equipment will replace some pretty old stuff.

The city had authorized the police to make the purchase back in 2013, but didn't receive the guns and ammo until last month because of 2012's ammo shortage.
The police department will use nearly $17,000 of pre-approved contingency funds from the City of Scottsbluff.
