Community pays tribute to the life of Amanda Baker

Posted: Updated:

It was with a heavy heart that the community said goodbye today, to a life many say, was taken much too soon.

An Honor Guard proceeded down 42nd Street this afternoon, to pay tribute to the life of Amanda Baker.

Baker, a 24-year-old Corrections Officer, was fatally attacked on Valentines Day, by an inmate at the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center.

Today, people remembered Amanda for who she was, and the sacrifice she gave to the community.

Dozens of people lined the streets with American flags to say goodbye, and show their support for the Baker family, and her fellow officers.
Two people have been charged in the death of Amanda Baker.

15-year-old Dylan Cardeilhac is charged with first degree murder, and 16-year-old Guy Eagle Elk is charged with aiding and abetting.

Both teens are being charged as adults.
