Home based business owners and crafters show their stuff at Monument Mall expo

Posted: Updated:

Many people in the panhandle wake up each morning and head off to work, but there are also a number of people that stay home to work.

A number of those home business were showcased this weekend at the Monument Mall expo.

Tables upon tables were piled high, full of goods and handmade items with their proud crafters standing by.

Some of the people at the expo said that their home based business is their main source of income, but Yolanda Redfield, a local jewelry maker, says for her, it's a fun hobby on the side.

"Its absolutely wonderful, and I get great support from this community with my business. I do everything out of my home, of course. My husband retired me several years ago. We did construction together so I needed a hobby, and this is my hobby."

Regardless if its for fun or work, many of the home based business owners and crafters say the community is overwhelmingly supportive of their work.
