Bond set at $70,000 for man accused of breaking into Cirrus House

Bond has been set at $70,000 for the man accused of breaking into the Cirrus House this past weekend.

James Russell made his first court appearance on Monday afternoon in front of James Worden.

Court documents say that Russell broke out a glass door and tried to steal food from the snack bar. A Cirrus House employee caught him in the act, and Russell was later arrested at his apartment.

Russell has at least one other pending burglary charge in Cheyenne County from last summer, as well as numerous other run-ins with the law.

Russell is being charged with Robbery, a Class III felony, and if convicted would spend 1-20 years behind bars. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Friday at 2 p.m. in Scotts Bluff County Court.
