$50,000 available for panhandle landowners to build wildlife-friendly fences

Posted: Updated:

Landowners in the Nebraska panhandle have the opportunity to take advantage of thousands of dollars worth of funds for new fences.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is providing a total of $50,000 dollars in funds to some landowners in the panhandle.

The money is intended for the installation of wildlife-friendly fences on properties.

The wildlife-friendly fence design serves its purpose for livestock while allowing wild animals to travel over or under the fence with minimal chance of getting caught.

The Commission will award up to $1,000 dollar per mile to landowners in the Pine Ridge and Ogalala Grassland regions on a first come, first serve basis.
All projects must be completed by October 31.

Interested landowners can call 308-432-6183
