Hundreds turn out for St. Agnes' 57th annual Penny Carnival

Posted: Updated:

Food, fun, and games took over St. Agnes Catholic School today in one of the panhandle's longest-running traditions.

The St. Agnes ‘Penny Carnival' drew in hundreds of people this afternoon to play games, eat Mexican food, and take their chances a raffle.

This is the 57th year the school has put on the event.

Jessica Mikoloyck , a parent volunteer, says the carnival takes several months to plan and a couple hundred volunteers, but it's all worth it to help the school.

"The money raised from this particular fundraiser goes to supply the school with basic operational costs. So basically the penny carnival, all of the money raised here helps to run the school every year."

Mikoloyck says one of the most popular attractions at the penny carnival every year is the cake walk.
