Gering native, gubernatorial candidate visits panhandle today

Posted: Updated:

A former Omaha tax attorney running in the Nebraska race for governor put more miles behind the wheel as he visited the panhandle on Monday.
Bryan Slone, a native of Gering, officially entered the gubernatorial race on Friday after filing his papers.

Throughout his campaign, Slone says one of the biggest concerns he's hearing and plans to address is the tax reform issue.

He says Nebraskans pay too much when it comes to taxes and that we need to reform it.
"I worked in the Reagan administration on the largest federal tax reform in the nation's history," said Slone. "So I've been there. I understand what it takes to reform taxes. I've been a tax attorney and accountant for 30 years. I think I'm more prepared than anybody to really take on what is our biggest issue."
Slone is the sixth Republican candidate vying to replace Governor Dave Heineman, who can't run in 2014 because of term limits.
