Alliance Superintendent hosting open public forum Tuesday night

Posted: Updated:

The Alliance public schools superintendent is inviting residents to attend Tuesday night's open public forum to discuss concerns parents may have including one about drug testing students.
Dr. Troy Unzicker says at previous meetings residents have spoken about dress code, sportsmanship and graduation locations.

Unzicker says the drug testing issue was brought up by some parents who wanted to prove their child wouldn't test positive after rumors spread that some athletes may have used drugs.

He says that was never the case.

Unzicker says the possibility of drug testing is important to discuss.

"Tough issue, yes we want to get kids help if they are in that situation. You can't be naive. Kids make mistakes. Those kind of things happen and they happen in every district not just Alliance and you want to help those kids and we want to prevent it. We want to provide them education and then if they do need help let's get them help."
Tuesday night's meeting will take place at Alliance High School's library at 7 p.m.
