Posted: Updated:

A Scotts Bluff County farmer has chosen to donate $2,500 to the Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department after being selected as a winner by the America's Farmers Grow Communities.

Brenda Loose will help present the ceremonial check to the fire department tonight at the fire hall at 6 p.m. tonight.

The American Farmers Grow Communities works directly with farmers to support nonprofit organizations that do important non-profit work in rural communities. The program has grown to include more than 1200 eligible counties in 39 states.

The money comes from The Monsanto Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the farm community.
