UNMC Career Fair connects student nurses, potential employers

Posted: Updated:
Panhandle nursing students and soon-to-be-grads got a head-start at the job hunt today.

Dozens of regional hospitals and nursing organizations set up shop at the Harms Center Thursday afternoon.

UNMC Student Nurses hosted a 'Career Fair' for nursing students to meet and exchange information with potential employers.

Representatives from Banner Health, Box Butte General, Regional West Medical Center, Sidney Regional Medical Center, the Western Nebraska Veterans Home, and many more were present at the Fair.

Nursing students say it's a good opportunity to get their names and faces out there to potential employers both near and far.
"We just wanted to get it out there about all the different job opportunities, the different careers not only that we have here, but across the state," said UNMC nursing student Tori Towne.
"The career fair is a great opportunity; you have all the vendors to help you figure out the hiring process, what they're looking for, what they want," said MacKinsey Skidmore, a UNMC nursing student graduating this May.
There are a total of 41 students will be graduating in spring from the University of Nebraska Medical Center's Nursing Programs.
