Gering teen injured in Friday morning Highway 26 accident in Scottsbluff

Posted: Updated:

A Gering teen has been taken to Regional West Medical Center following a Friday morning accident in Scottsbluff.

Shortly after 10 a.m., an eastbound green pickup and an westbound white pickup collided at the intersection of Highway 26 and Avenue B.

Officers say 17-year-old Jazmine Rodriguez  appeared to take a left hand turn north onto Avenue B, and that's when the westbound pickup driven by Freddie Steffensmeier struck her.

She was transported to the hospital after complaining about pain. Rodriguez is not listed in the hospital directory. Officers say she has been cited for failure to yield.

Scottsbluff Fire Department was on scene to clear up the debris. The incident closed north and southbound traffic on Avenue B for about 30 minutes.
