July trial date set for Detention Center murder accomplice

A July trial date hasbeen set for the inmate accused of helping mastermind a fatal attack ona Scotts Bluff County Corrections Officer.

16-year-old Guy Eagle Elk was arraigned Friday afternoon on one count of aiding and abetting first degree assault.

Prosecutors allege Eagle Elk taught Dylan Cardeilhac the strangling techniques used to fatally attack Amanda Baker.

His defense counters that Eagle Elk only intended themove to knock her out – not kill her.

The matter has been set for pretrial conference on June20th and to begin in jury term beginning on July 7th. If convicted Eagle Elk could face up to 50 years inprison.
