Broadband may soon be the only form of Internet in Nebraska

Posted: Updated:

Dial-up Internet could become non-existent in the near future with the release of a survey done by businesses who use broadband.

Lieutenant Governor Lavon Heidemann says that Nebraska businesses now see broadband Internet as a key to future growth and economic success.
"Nebraska entrepreneurs long have had a reputation for creativity and innovation, so it doesn't surprise me that they have embraced broadband Internet service as a way to grow their businesses, not just locally but in many cases globally," said Heidemann.

Last fall, a survey by the Nebraska broadband initiative was sent to ten thousand businesses, and results show that broadband use is having a positive impact on jobs and business revenue.

More than 85 percent of businesses reported using the Internet to buy goods and services, 62 percent sell goods and services online and 53 percent deliver services and content online.

Heidemann also says it is not surprising that businesses have embraced broadband as a way to grow.
Business owners say broadband is essential in surviving and succeeding in the economy.
