Morrill student gets the prom proposal of her dreams

Posted: Updated:

Prom can be one of the most exciting times in a high schooler's career and one lucky girl in Morrill got the "promposal" of a lifetime.

Bradley Gillen and Sabrina Austin have known each other since eighth grade and when they started dating, Gillen had an idea that he hoped would work.

Gillen, a senior at Mitchell High School, had seen and heard the Morrill High School choir serenading students on Valentine's Day and thought it would be a great idea to have them sing a prom proposal to Austin.

Austin says Gillen told her to be expecting something, but she had no idea that one of her biggest dreams would be coming true.

He had the choir sing 'Just the Way You Are' by Bruno Mars. At the end of the song members of the choir held up signs which read, "Would you go to prom with me?"

"I've never been asked to a dance in a cute way before and it's always been one of my dreams to be asked in a cute way," said Austin with a big smile.

She says she was surprised by all of the people involved, but she was not surprised that Gillen could come up with something so unique.

"She was blushing pretty bad," said Gillen. "She just kept smiling the whole time and when she came up and gave me a hug it was just a sigh of relief that it was over and she said yes."

The couple says they are excited to go to prom together and look forward to more surprises from each other.
