Jury selection underway for Brian Ross' bribery of a juror trial

Posted: Updated:

A jury is being selected for a Scottsbluff man who attempted to bribe a juror during his drug trial.

33-year-old Brian Ross is being charged with Bribery of a Juror- which is a Class IV felony - and has a one day trial set to take place on Tuesday.

In December, Ross was been convicted of possession of a controlled substance, willful reckless driving, and obstruction. He was sentenced to a year-and-a-half in jail on those charges.

However during the trial, Ross allegedly contacted a 23-year-old juror and asked him to "help (him) out." The juror than told investigators that Ross told him he could give him an envelope full of cash.

Prosecuting attorney Scott Blaha says in his four-plus years of experience he has never seen a defendant try to bribe a witness, and it is "exceptionally rare" that a defendant would do that.
