Scottsbluff fugitive leads police on high speed chase

A Scottsbluff fugitive is facing more serious charges after leading law enforcement on a high speed car chase Wednesday night.

Shortly before 9 p.m., a Scottsbluff Police Officer attempted to stop a vehicle with expired license plates. The vehicle fled from the officer from east Scottsbluff at high rates of speed beyond Gering.

The vehicle operator, 23-year-old Alejandro "Alex" Paramo of Scottsbluff, lost control of the vehicle approximately 1/4 mile south of Sandberg Road on Lockwood Road. The vehicle rolled into the roadway when it was struck by a pursuing Scottsbluff Police vehicle.

Paramo was quickly apprehended, and he and the pursuing officer was transported to RWMC. The officer was treated and released, Paramo's injuries are believed to be minor.

Investigators at the scene located numerous items of evidence in the roadway and inside Paramo's vehicle. Two firearms and numerous items of drugs and drug paraphernalia were located.

Paramo was also wanted on numerous warrants from Scotts Bluff County and District Court for failure to appear.

Paramo will be booked into the Scotts Bluff County Jail on the following charges when he's released from RWMC:

Possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to deliver: 1D Felony

2 Counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person - 1D Felonies

Unlawful Flight to Avoid Arrest- IV Felony

Willful Reckless Driving- iii Misdemeanor

Driving under suspension- iii Misdemeanor
