City of Alliance prepares for upcoming road construction projects

Posted: Updated:

The city of Alliance is preparing to finalize upcoming construction road projects for the remainder of the year.
At a recent city council meeting Public Works Superintendent Mike Hulquist spoke to the council members about the city's one-and-six year plan.

The plan outlined several major and minor street construction projects.

One major road project under the one-year plan includes the second half of the city's Streetscape project.

City Manager J.D Cox says crews will work along Box Butte Avenue between Third and Fifth streets. Cox anticipates the second phase to begin after Heritage Days.

Another project includes a pathway east of town.
"It'll go by the YMCA," said Cox. "And include a trail which is a sidewalk pathway similar to what we have all through our parks and we'll have a pathway that'll go to the east side of town. So we're very excited about that project which probably won't be until spring 2015."
Cox went onto say the city plans on taking bids on a number of minor street projects later this spring.
