Construction on Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran school moves forward

Posted: Updated:

Members of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alliance are in the process of opening a day school for students in pre-Kindergarten to fourth grade.
Crews are remodeling the former Skateland building near the YMCA on East 10th street.

Administrative Committee Chairman Kara Aguallo says there are currently three pre-school classrooms in the church but more room is needed.

Aguallo says blueprints of the classrooms, teachers' lounges, and offices have been created. She says workers plan to have the concrete layout of the new school completed by July and anticipate the school opening in September.

The curriculum of the school will meet public school standards.

Aguallo says Saxon math and phonics will be offered as well as history, physical education, social studies and religion classed based on the Lutheran faith.
"We really want to get God's word out to them," says Aguallo. "But also know that they can reach out to Him in anything that they do.; not only be school, life but just build a good foundation for them."
Pastor Richard Mueller is thrilled about the new project.

"It's exciting with our pre-school, just excited to see the kids, hear that news and respond to that and so it's a way to carry out God's mission He has given us to do so we're looking forward to it."
Aguallo says the church is accepting applications for those interested in the 2014-2015 school year. For more information, call (308) 762-4663
