400 turn out to hear about services Air Link provides

Posted: Updated:

More than 400 senior citizens gather to learn more about the region's fastest first responders.

On Wednesday, the Regional West Foundation hosted a health and wellness seminar that highlighted the services of Air Link.

Guest speakers were Dr. Peter Meyer, who is Air Link's Medical Director, and Chief Flight Nurse Tracy Meyer.

They explained how the flight team responds to hundreds of calls each year. The responsibility is a daunting one, as their service area covers  28,000 square miles.

Dr. Peter Meyer says a new study shows there's a better chance of surviving a serious injury if you are being transported to a hospital by a medical helicopter.

"It's about getting there quicker, more efficiently as well. As you'll learn later, these guys are trained up way beyond my expectation on what they should be trained."

In the event that you would ever need Air Link's services, annual memberships are available for $65, and covers all costs that your medical provider does not.
