Scottsbluff Police investigate Veteran's Home burglary

At approximately 11:10 p.m. inthe late evening hours of March 27th, 2014 the Scottsbluff Police Departmentwas requested at the Western Nebraska Veterans Home to investigate a reportedtheft that had just occurred.

Officers arrived and contactedthe victim David Bixler, a resident of the campus.  Mr. Bixler reported that while he was outsideof his residence on the campus a male forcibly removed his wallet from hisperson and fled the area with the wallet. The male then fled the campus after a short pursuit by the victim.  A search of the area following the crime bythe police department with assistance from the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff'sOffice and Nebraska State Patrol did not locate the suspect.

The victim described the suspectas a white male approximately 5'8" in height and possibly wearing a ski maskwith all dark clothing. 

This crime was captured onsurveillance video on the campus of the veterans home.  Please find attached two images taken fromthe video of the suspect in this case. In the images from the surveillance video the male is observed arrivinginto the area on bicycle.  The maleappears to be wearing a dark colored (possibly black) hooded coat with the word"FILA" across the front, a dark blue baseball style cap, blue jeans and lightcolored (possibly white) tennis style shoes.

We are  requesting that anyone with information aboutthe crime contact the Scottsbluff Police Department at (308) 632-7176 oranonymously by calling Scotts Bluff County Crime Stoppers at (308) 632-STOP(7867).  Those calling Crime Stoppers maybe eligible for a reward of up to $1000.00 for information.
