Upgrades and renovations will be coming to a northern panhandle airport, but not as soon as originally planned.
Major construction plans are in the works for an overhaul of Chadron's municipal airport.
The runway at the airport has deteriorated after many years of use and harsh weather, and needs replacement.
The plan that was started almost two years ago called for the runway project to start this spring, but that start date has been delayed.
Chadron City Manager, Wayne Anderson says the city is waiting on more funding to complete the large runway project, but will embark on smaller projects in the meantime.
"We're going to let in some contracts probably this spring, and start some smaller aspects, stages of that project, but the major runway project probably will not happen until the funding is available, and they'll need a whole summer of construction."
Anderson says he expects the earliest the runway project could be completed is the summer of 2015, but he says those plans could change.
