Scottsbluff Kennel Club dog show brings out every breed

Posted: Updated:

People came from all around the region to see if their dog has what it takes to be crowned "best in show."

Hundreds of pooches are competing in the Scottsbluff Kennel Club's three day dog show.

Breeds from all ends of the spectrum came out to show off their beauty and obedience at the Scotts bluff County Fairgrounds.

Today the race was on for who would win "best puppy."

For many handlers however, there is much more to the show than winning ribbons.

Mitchell resident Robin Wescher has been participating in dog shows for over 20 years.

She says although winning is always nice, the personal satisfaction often means more.

"I just love to get out with the dogs and be around the people. That's the whole thing. There are no monetary prizes or anything like that," says Wescher. "I just enjoy the dogs and I like looking at good dogs. That's the whole point."

The show continues tomorrow with the ultimate award being "best bred by exhibitor."
