New team of technicians ready to check car seats this year

Posted: Updated:

A new group of car seat technicians is ready to make sure your children are safe while you're driving.
Nearly 12 volunteers recently finished a three-day car-seat safety course sponsored by the Scottsbluff Police Department.

A free car seat check-up event was then held for members in the community this weekend at the HARMS Center in Scottsbluff.

Bobbi Kuhlman with the police department says the purpose of the check-up allows the new technicians a chance to put their skills to the test.

They also want to make sure families leave safer than when they arrived.
"If you're a new parent, if you're not a new parent but you're still confused, it's nice to have that piece of who's had that extra training come in and make sure you've got the right seat for your child, for your car and make sure it's installed correctly," said Kuhlman.
Officers at the Scottsbluff Public Safety building along with the fire and police departments offer car seat check-ups by appointment anytime throughout the year.
