Construction crews working on utilities in Box Butte General Hospital expansion

There'sstill a lot of construction to be done in the Box Butte General Hospital's expansionproject but its chief executive officer says residents should start to see more visiblechanges soon.

CEO Dan Griess says crews are finishing up on relocating the utilities.

Thestorm sewer is the last piece crews are working on and he says by May theyshould be putting up steel beams.

Earlierthis month, cement was poured for the foundation.

Griesssays another big change that will be addressed is security improvements.

"Theemergency room was a great improvement in 2001 from the 1974 construction. However, security continues and remains to be an issue. The construction and newemergency department will see great changes in safety and quality," said Griess.

Theestimated $40 million expansion project is expected to take three yearsto complete.
