Senior community volunteers thanked at Red Rose Tea ceremony

Themayors of six panhandle cities came together Tuesday to declare April firstas 'National Day of Service.'

The proclamation was made during a 'Red Rose Tea' receptionheld for community service volunteers.

Members of the CAPWN Foster Grandparent Program,Senior Companion Program and Vista Volunteers were honored and thanked fortheir devout service to our community.

Jan Fitts, Executive Director of the Community Action Partnership of WesternNebraska, says the volunteers are a vital part of the community.

"It's a day of recognition that we give to our senior core and our vista members recognizing all the hard work they give."

The red roses and red rose tea are to symbolize the love andnurturing the volunteers give to the community.

Acknowledgements were also sent from Congressman AdrianSmith and Senator Deb Fischer.
