Scottsbluff High School set for opening night of Shrek the Musical

Posted: Updated:

The stage is set for tonight's opening of Shrek the Musical at Scottsbluff High School.

More than 40 students will take the stage for the two and a half hour performance of the animated DreamWorks film.

Co–set directors, Raul and Angie Aguallo, have worked on high school musicals in the past. Both say the set for Shrek was the most challenging one yet because several of the pieces were based off of their imagination.

Vocal Music Director Brad Ronne says in the past costumes were borrowed from Kansas City Costume Company but this year the elaborate designs were taken from Disguises out of Denver, Colorado.

"Shrek being a new show and very complicated costume wise," says Ronne. "It was difficult to find companies that had costumes that also met our expectations so I really looked around and I've been really pleased with the costumes, they're really colorful, and bright and it's a big set of costumes."

Tickets are still available either at the school or online at for performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.
