Fischer supports Hiring More Heroes Act

U.S. Senator Deb Fischer announced she iscosponsoring legislation introduced to encouragesmall businesses to hire veterans.

The Hire More Heroes Act providesincentives for small businesses by exemptingveterans who already have health insurance through the Department of VeteransAffairs or TRICARE from being counted towards ObamaCare's employer mandaterequirements.

The mandate requires all businesses with more than 50 full-timeequivalents to provide health insurance to their employees or pay a fee.

"Our nation's veterans have valuable skills and training to offeremployers in Nebraska and across the country," said Fischer. "The HireMore Heroes Act fosters job opportunities for those who have dutifully servedour country by removing one of the burdensome requirements of ObamaCarepreventing small businesses from hiring. This legislation provides a reprievefor job creators hurting under ObamaCare while also helping to ease thetransition of our men and women in uniform back to civilian life, and I'm proudto support it."

Identical legislation overwhelmingly passed theHouse last month with a vote of 406-1.

The Hire More Heroes Act is supported by the EnlistedAssociation of the National Guard of the United States (EANGUS), the onlymilitary service association representing the interests of every enlistedsoldier and airmen in the Army and Air National Guard, and the Retired EnlistedAssociation, a Congressionally-charted veterans' service organization and thelargest association in the nation of enlisted retirees and veterans from allbranches of the Armed Forces.
