Young artists were given the opportunity to show off hard work

Young artists of the North Platte Valley region had the opportunity to showcase their talents today.

The 29th annual 'Visionaries' exhibit opened to the public today and features original artwork by young artists from around the region.

'Visionaries' was open to all student artists in 6th through 12th grade within 125 miles of Scottsbluff and Gering.

Organizers at the Western Nebraska Arts Center say the exhibit is a great way for young artists to begin showing and selling their art professionally. Executive director Mason Burbach says it is a chance for students to meet other artists, while discovering other artwork.

"We do this because it's just encouraging for young artists. Any young artist that's interested in making their own artwork, this is kind of a spring board," says Burbach. "It's the first time that they can show their work professionally and get started showing their work professionally in a gallery."
Burbach credits First State Bank for sponsoring the artists and says it would not be possible without them.

The exhibit is on display at WNAC through May 4th.
