"Time is of the essence" for Nebraska lawmakers

Posted: Updated:

State lawmakers will be burning the midnight oil as they enter their final four days of the legislative session.
Speaker of the Legislature Greg Adams addressed state senators Monday morning- stating time is of the essence.

Today, there is a full agenda of general file items, and lawmakers can expect to work until at least 10 o'clock tonight.

Tomorrow will focus on bills that have been placed on select file and all legislation will have to go to bill drafters for final copy.
"So we're going to have to stay here," says Adams. "And there may be a point in time tomorrow evening where bill drafters say 'We've taken all that we can take', and still get back to you before you adjourn  tomorrow night."
State lawmakers will meet three more times this week, and Thursday April 17th is their final day of the legislative session.
