SBPD investigating Monday afternoon accident

Two vehicles are totaled during a mid-afternoon Scottsbluff accident

Police say that at 12:55 p.m. officers from the Scottsbluff Police Department, EMT's from Valley Ambulance andScottsbluff Fire and Rescue responded to an injury motor vehicle accident onCircle Drive next to Monument Mall.

A 2010 Dodge Avenger being driven by 18 year old Alyssa Ybarra of Gering,  lost control on Circle Drive. The vehiclecrossed the road onto the opposing lane of traffic, then over- corrected acrossboth lanes of traffic, over the median and into the parking lot of MonumentMall.

The northbound vehicle then struck a parked vehicle in the Monument Mallparking lot that was occupied by 44 year old Jill Forella also of Gering.

BothYbarra and Forella were transported to Regional West Medical Center for unknowninjuries. Neither are listed as patients in the hospitals directory as of Monday evening.

The 2010 Dodge driven by Ybarra and the 2013 Lincoln occupied byForella were estimated to be total losses by officers at the scene. Theaccident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed.
