Council approves contract to make Scottsbluff more energy efficient

Posted: Updated:

The approval of a $600 contract comes after representatives attended a NPCA conference.

They became aware of Legislative Bill 997 that requires all municipalities to adopt an energy element into their comprehensive plan.

City planner Annie Folck says that it is strictly about how efficiently energy is being used.

"What this energy element would do is assess our current energy infrastructure, look at the age and capacity of the system, it would start looking at the sources of energy programs-federal, state and even local that we could look at to try and reduce energy consumption," says Folck. "It would be looking at energy usage across all different sectors."
Marvin Planning Consultants have already done research on the city and meet the qualifications needed to move forward.
