Veteran's Home thief back in court Thursday morning

The man accused of robbing a local veteran of his wallet will be back in court Thursday morning for his preliminary hearing.

32-year-old Curtis Soester is being charged with a Class 2 Felony Robbery after being suspected of taking a wallet from a resident at the Western Nebraska Veterans Home in late March.

Scotts Bluff County Judge Kris Mickey called the incident "somewhat startling."

Soester was arrested around on March 28th by Scottsbluff PoliceDepartment after being spotted by an off-duty officer.

Soester had the ID of the victim from the robbery on him at the time of his arrest.

His bond is set at 10 percent of $200,000. If convicted, he could face up to 50 years behind bars .
