Man accused of robbing veteran has case bound over to District Court

Last month, a resident at the Western Nebraska Veteran's Home was robbed by a man who escaped by bike. Today, the man accused of committing that crime in back in court.

32 – year – old Curtis Soester is facing a felony robbery after allegedly taking a wallet belonging to David Bixler.

During today's preliminary hearing,Scotts Bluff County Attorney Doug Warner showed the crime- which was caught on camera. It clearly shows a man sneaking up behind Bixler while he was smoking a cigarette snatch his chain wallet and flee. Scottsbluff Police Captain Brian Wasson testified on how police used surveillance video to catch the culprit.

While Soester was being arrested, they found the driver's license belonging to Bixler, and Soester also told police where they could find the keys to Bixler's safe deposit box.

The case has been bound over to District Court, and he will be arraigned on Friday, April 18th at 1 p-m.

Judge Kris Mickey also denied a reduction of the $200,000 bond. Warner says that Soester has an extensive criminal history that includes burglary charges stemming from Oklahoma.
