Sidney woman pleads not guilty in aiding in her husbands death

Posted: Updated:

A Sidney woman has pleaded not guilty to charges that she helped her husband kill himself and then hid his body.

53-year-old Deann Kimble entered the pleas earlier this week in Cheyenne County District Court. Kimble is charged with Assisting Suicide and Concealing Human Skeletal Remains- both Class IV Felonies.

Deputies have said Kimble told them that she had promised 61-year-old Russell Kimble that she would not intervene when he decided it was "his time to die."

On Saturday, March 22nd Russell rolled himself in a shower curtain and used a youth-sized shotgun to end his life. At the time, Deann went into their van, turned the volume up on the radio and listened to two songs. When she went back, she knew Russell was deceased. Deann Kimble then wrapped his body is a shower curtain and sheet and buried him in a shallow grave.

If convicted, Deann Kimble could face up to 10 years on the charges. Her next court appearance is scheduled for April 18.
