Scotts Bluff County tourism app expected to be out by late summer

Posted: Updated:

It's been in the making for more than a year and now a new tourism smartphone app is months away from being available to people in the panhandle.
Scotts Bluff Area Visitors Bureau Director Brenda Leisy says the app will include attractions of places to visit in and around Scotts Bluff County and stretch to Kimball and Morrill counties.

The free app will also have information on restaurants, the theater arts, places to exercise and even fish.

The overall cost for the app is about ten-thousand dollars but a six-thousand dollar marketing grant has helped to lower what the Visitors Bureau had to shell out.

Leisy says she's optimistic for the final product.
"So we'll see how it works and hopefully it will get successful and it would even be something that the Western Nebraska Travel Coalition could look at in the future so that we can get the entire area into one app," she said.
The app, which doesn't have a name just yet, is expected to come out by late summer. Leisy says it will be available for the iPhone, Android and even your iPad.
