Several community orgs spend Saturday 'sprucing up' YMCA pathways

Posted: Updated:

A pathways project that's been nearly 20 years in the making took a major step forward today.
Members of the 'Serenity Garden Club' and several other community organizations got together to spruce-up the pathways behind the Scottsbluff YMCA.

Volunteers helped to plant shrubs and trees, install sprinkler systems, and clean up dried brush and weeds.

Kathy Tando says the Serenity Garden Club has been working on the pathways since 1996, and the they got a lot of help out today.
"We got a lot going on. And one of the things we really learned is it takes a community to do a community project, so we appreciate the help. We're just so excited that everyone had come together today to help us do this."
The NRD, Pheasants Forever, the City of Scottsbluff, Sandberg Implements, Allo, and Scottsbluff fire fighters also contributed to the project.
