Ag-supporters push for more ag-education in Nebraska schools

Posted: Updated:

Nebraska ag-supporters are making a push to encourage more people to consider teaching agriculture education in Nebraska.

The Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation announced plans to offer a new scholarship for teachers interested in agriculture that will also help pay student loans of new agriculture teachers.

The foundation plans to offer a $1,200 dollar scholarship for people are doing their student teaching.

The loan assistance program would help teachers in their first five years in the classroom.

The foundation's president, Steve Nelson, says many Nebraska school districts would like to expand agriculture programs but can't find enough teachers.
