Minatare mayor set to vote yes to join interlocal agreement

Posted: Updated:

As Minatare city council members get set to vote on whether to join the Scotts Bluff County interlocal agreement, the city's mayor has already made up his mind to vote yes.

Minatare Mayor Alfred Pieper says he does plan on joining the interlocal agreement and hopes that the board members will go along with him.

Pieper says the city cannot afford to go without the help of the county's law enforcement.

He says in the event of a tie from his four board members he plans on voting yes.

"Like I said I was kind of held in the blind and had to do a bunch of research on my own and we got it. And it wouldn't be feasible for smaller towns to try and open up their own communication set up and everything," says Pieper.

Minatare's city council meeting begins at six p.m.
