Alliance city manager calls new Maverik store "big improvement" to city

Posted: Updated:

Construction crews are clearing out debris in one panhandle city for the arrival of a western U.S. convenience store chain.

Alliance City Manager J.D. Cox says the arrival of the Maverik store will be a big improvement and upgrade for the residents in the area.

The store will be located at the corner of Highway 2 and Highway 385.

Within the upcoming months, construction crews will address landscaping issues and conduct a possible asbestos removal.

Cox says the new addition has been in works for at least three years when he first moved to Alliance and he says council members are supportive for the addition of the chain store.

"Very welcoming and opening and to the investment that Maverik is making. Alliance is actually going to be quite a tremendous investment that they're making at that intersection," he says.

Cox says Maverik representatives anticipate an early fall opening of the new store.
