Scottsbluff principal excited to make move from Longfellow to Roosevelt

Posted: Updated:

***In an earlier version of this article, KOTA Territory News erroneously reported that Principal Jana Mason would be assuming double duties as principal of both Longfellow and Roosevelt Elementary Schools. This was incorrect, and we apologize for the mistake.

One local principal will soon be making the move across town from one elementary school to another.

Jana Mason, principal at Longfellow Elementary School has accepted the position as the new principal at Roosevelt Elementary School.

Mason has served as principal at Longfellow for the past four years .

She says it was a difficult decision to leave the students at Longfellow. Mason says she is anxious, nervous, excited and most of all honored that staff is embracing the change.

"I'm very excited," says Mason. I think Longfellow teachers and staff have great things already in place and I just want to continue being a building leader and instructional leader and support the teachers and students that are already over there at Roosevelt."

Her takeover as principal will begin with the 2014-2015 school year.

Scottsbluff Public School Administration is currently advertising to fill Mason's vacancy at Longfellow.
